IT was an eventful day in the Limerick football and hurling championships with a number of final places booked as well as promotion and relegation finals.
Hurling
Adare’s one-year stint in Section B of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship came to an end as they secured their place in the top tier with a 0-20 to 1-14 win over South Liberties, who will remain in Section B for a third successive year.
Elsewhere, St Pats and Ballybricken Bohermore sealed their passage to the semi-finals of the JAHC with wins over Mungret St Pauls and Killeedy respectively.
Football
Underdogs Kildimo Pallaskenry and Rathkeale upset the odds to move into the final of the Intermediate football championship. KP were deserved 2-11 to 2-9 winners over St Senan’s in an absorbing contest in Askeaton.
Rathkeale led from start to finish over Gerald Griffins with goals from Dean Maune and Eoin Kelly helping them into a second final in four years.
One of KP or Rathkeale will replace Na Piarsaigh in the Senior ranks for 2022 after they were beaten by Galbally in the SFC relegation final. Galbally preserved their senior status for another year with a 3-12 to 2-6 win over the Caherdavin outfit.
Fr Caseys are the first side into the PJFC final after they overcame Croom, 2-9 to 2-7.
