CASEY gave an update on his recovery from the ACL tore he suffered in the All-Ireland at the launch of Sportsfile’s “Back2Back” book.

With 25 minutes on the clock in the 2021 All-Ireland final, Peter Casey stroked over his fifth score of the game.

The Na Piarsaigh man was in irresistible form with his score over Niall O’Leary an instant highlight reel moment.

But while Limerick cruised to a sixteen point win, Casey was forced to watch the second half from the bench after going off injured.

It was revealed that Casey suffered an ACL tear, ruling him out for the majority of the following year.

But the star forward has given a positive update on his rehab as he looks set to return to the fold during the 2022 championship as Limerick bid for a three-in-a-row.

“Yeah, I’m feeing good. No pain at all with it three weeks post op. And listen I’ve a good few shoulders I can cry on, Sean Finn has done it, my brother has done it obviously now Barry Murphy so at least the two of us have it going through the rehab as well.

“Look injuries happen, it’s a competitive game and you’re going to get bumps along the road. It’s the cards I’ve been dealt. I’ll do my rehab and Ill be back next summer. I’m only going to really miss the League and hopefully I’ll be back for the middle of the Munster championship.”

Last week, Casey was nominated for an All-Star after a stellar season that saw him hit over fifteen points in just three and half games.

With the corner forward looking nailed on for a first gong, he has praised the entire squad, without whom there would be no nominations.

“It is nice but it is a team effort. Without the 36 lads on the panel, none of us would have got an All-Star nomination. Its a team game and our weakest link is the 36 man panel.

Peter Casey was talking at the launch of Sportsfile’s new book, “Back2Back” that chronicles Limerick’s 2020 & 2021 All-Ireland triumphs.
