THE Mayor of the City and County of Limerick has laid down a challenge to tidy towns groups across Limerick with the mission of creating a short video of your ‘PLACE’.
Groups who entered Tidy Towns in 2019 and or 2021 are eligible to enter the Mayor’s Mission.
To enter a group must create a video suitable for use on social media. The video should be 90 seconds or less and show case your town or village along with a minimum of five categories in Tidy Towns.
The newly created video should be an invitation to visit your ‘PLACE’ and ideally involve young people in the making of it.
The closing date for entries is 5pm on Friday 29 October. Winners will be announced before the end of November.
Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr Daniel Butler said: “This competition has the potential to show case your village or Tidy Towns, involve young people and have a new ‘action’ for the 2022 National Tidy Towns Competition. I would encourage all Limerick TidyTowns group to get involved.”
“It has huge potential as everyone has such a unique perspective on their own areas.”
This innovative mission for the Tidy Towns groups was inspired by the homework set by Ciara Breen a 6th Class Teacher in Scoil Íde in Corbally during one of the Covid lockdowns.
Ciara Breen said: “The project ‘my world within 5km’ allowed the class to really explore all the positive aspects of their locality and feel great pride in where they live. It allowed us to see our local amenities through fresh new eyes. The pupils really embraced this and everyone really benefitted from the project.”
The prizes will include 1st (€1000) 2nd (€ 700) and 3rd (€500) prize. There may be additional special merit prizes (€250) depending on the numbers and quality of the entries.

This is an opportunity to involve a young volunteer/ group/ class/ youth-group to undertake a TidyTowns action on behalf of their local group. Past jpeg images and video footage that you have permission to use are allowed.
