ADDICTION service provider Coolmine is now operating in the Mid-West from its Limerick City base in Mahon House, William Street with outreach clinics throughout Limerick County, Clare and North Tipperary.
Based on the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to overcome addiction and lead a productive life, Coolmine delivers a range of evidence-based practices that help people improve their quality of life and lessen the negative impact of substance use.
They understand that drug and alcohol problems are often the result of trauma and adverse circumstances. People in addiction often experience stigma and shame and as a result are further marginalised from society.
With September designated as International Recovery Month, Coolmine is celebrating the thousands of people who have managed to overcome addiction.
They have achieved this through social support, family support, sense of purpose, education, employment, recreational outlets and therapeutic support.
Recovery month is a wonderful opportunity to highlight this significant problem that is often overlooked within society.
As one Coolmine graduate said, “I allow myself to be open to a new way of thinking and behaving, allowing myself to be more understanding and forgiving of self and others. Trying new things such education, sports and recreation. Continuing to focus in on my wellbeing by doing stuff that’s good for my soul of which you could call spiritual”
