UNSURPRISINGLY the Patrickswell man is named after winning man of the match in the All-Ireland final last month.
Cian Lynch is the PWC/GAA Hurler of the Month for August after a pair of stunning performances in Croke Park.
On August 7, Lynch was instrumental in helping Limerick into the All-Ireland final, scoring 0-3 from play in the win over Waterford.
A fortnight later he gave a performance for the ages in the All-Ireland final against Cork, scoring 0-6 and assisting a further 0-6 over the course of the game.
Lynch is the heavy favourite to claim his second Hurler of the Year award later this year after helping Limerick to a third All-Ireland in four years.
Tyrone’s Kieran McGeary was named Footballer of the Month after his man of the match performance in helping the Ulster side past Kerry in the Al-Ireland semi-final a fortnight ago.
Uachtarán Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Larry McCarthy said:
“Congratulations to the winners of the PwC GAA GPA Player of the Month awards for August. Cian was outstanding for Limerick as they won back-to-back All-Ireland hurling titles for the first time in their history. Kieran continued his excellent form from the Ulster Championship as Tyrone overcame Kerry after extra time to make it to the All-Ireland Football final”
