EMMA Slevin has finished yesterday’s Beam final at the 2021 Slovenia World Challenge Cup in Artistic Gymnastics in 4th place having also competed in the bars final ranking 8th.
Speaking about this event from Slovenia, Performance and Technical Manager Sally Johnson said: “Fantastic results for our girls in the Koper World Cup. First Senior competition for Bláthnaid performing a great beam and floor routine being in a reserve position for Floor final! With Emma making 2 finals for Bars and Beam in a high standard final coming 4th on beam is a great result. Well done to all!
Our senior Women’s Artistic gymnasts have an exciting future and this has been a great opportunity to re build the competition experience as we head into the Paris Olympic cycle and continue to build our team for next year’s Europeans Championships.
Looking forward to the selections for the World Championships in October and the Northern Europeans in November. I’m proud that we now have 12 senior gymnasts eligible to trial seeing as a number of juniors have moved to senior level now.”
Also competing in this World Cup were Kate Molloy and Bláthnaid Higgins who made a welcome return to international competition after 2 years out due to COVID-19. This was an important first step on the Paris 2024 preparation pathway for all gymnasts.
Commenting on today’s final, CEO Gymnastics Ireland Ciaran Gallagher said:
“Congratulations to Emma for the great results in finals. Closing out the competition with 4th in beam and 8th in uneven bars finals was a real statement of her potential in this new cycle. A great job by Emma, Kate & Blathnaid plus coach Sally Batley in Slovenia!”
