Junior Oscar Traynor Competition Scrapped for Upcoming Season

THERE will be no Junior Oscar Traynor Trophy competition this season as the FAI begin the process of a total revamp to re-energise the competition. Limerick junior clubs were informed of the decision on Tuesday evening following a meeting of the LDL.

The Oscar Traynor Youth Trophy will operate as normal in the 2021/2022 campaign. The Limerick District League are searching for a new manager for the Oscar Traynor Youth side and anyone interested is urged to contact Turlough McNamara [email protected].

In 2019, the Limerick District League were represented by Janesboro Football Club who managed to win the competition. However, there have been calls to revamp a trophy which appears to have lost its prestige in recent times.

The Limerick District League are searching for a new manager for the Oscar Traynor Youth side and anyone interested is urged to contact Turlough McNamara [email protected]. In further news, the junior football transfer window closes on September 30th along with the international clearance window.

The LDMC also hopes to host an AGM at the earliest possible stage with the announcement of the easing of Covid-19 restrictions on a phased basis until October.
