DROMBANNA native Róisín Ní Riain is through to her third final in as many days following heat success in the S13 400m freestyle overnight.
It was also another personal best time as she finished third in her heat in a time of 4:45.14, enough to qualify her as the seventh fasted swimmer for the eight person final.
The final will take place at 11:34am Irish time, live on RTÉ2.
The 16-year-old is having a brilliant start to her games, following appearances in the final of the S13 backstroke and butterfly, unfortunately finishing outside the medals in both
Ní Riain recently completed Transition Year in the all-Irish secondary school Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh.
She’s coached by John Szaranek and is the youngest member of Team Ireland competing at the Paralympics.
Róisín had been sent many well wishes on her way to Tokyo including Limerick mayor Councillor Daniel Butler.
‘It is through her hard work and determination that Róisín is on the world stage. She is a superb ambassador for her community, her club, Limerick and Ireland.’
Her school are also great supporters, showing their support on Thursday.
