WATCH: Limerick’s Róisín Ní Riain through to the 100m Butterfly final at the Tokyo Paralympics following heat success

16-YEAR-old Róisín Ní Riain from Drombanna is through to the 100m butterfly S13 final at the Paralympics thanks to a third-placed finish in her heat in the early hours of this morning.

Ní Riain, making her debut, is the youngest athlete to represent Ireland at this year’s games, having just completed transition year at Gaelscoil Luimnigh.

In what was her second major international event, Róisín beat her personal best by three seconds to finish third in her heat and secure that spot in the final.

The final will take place later today at approximately 11:38am on RTÉ2.

Róisín is a member of Limerick Swimming Club and is expected to compete in a few swimming events in Tokyo.

  • S13 100m Butterfly
  • SB13 100m Breaststroke
  • S13 50m & 200m Freestyle
  • SM13 200m Individual Medley

Nicole Turner (19) from Dublin will also take to the water for Ireland at 10:46am in the final of the S6 50m freestyle.
