Parkway Shopping Centre introduces autism friendly slots

-

THE Parkway Shopping Centre has introduced designated autism friendly shopping times to offer a more comfortable shopping experience for people with sensory or additional needs, their families and carers.

During the autism friendly shopping slots, the centre and store will turn off the background music and announcements. Staff have been trained to help and assist anyone who requires additional support in the centre.
There is a central meeting point on the mall, clearly marked, that can be used as a meeting area or a place to go should anyone becomes separated from their group or family. Assistance dogs are very welcome to the centre and staff will have water available for them on request at all times.

The Parkway Shopping Centre also has an Autism Friendly Shopping Brochure with lots of helpful information and a feedback form for remarks and suggestions. These are available in the manager’s office.

The Parkway Shopping Centre is committed to working with everyone in the community and would love to hear feedback from customers to find out if there are any other members of the community they could offer support to.
