SQUAD UPDATE: Munster Rugby’s Neil Cronin and Eoin O’Connor return to pre-season training

MUNSTER Rugby are now two weeks into their preparations for the 2021/22 season and with a maiden fixture against Bath only four weeks away, Munster will prioritise beginning the season with as close to an entirely fit panel as possible.

Scrum-half Neil Cronin (knee) has returned to team training having sustained an ACL injury in training last October. With him returning is prop James French, who has recently recovered from a hamstring injury.

Academy lock Eoin O’Connor has returned to team training having spent all of last season rehabilitating a knee injury. With him returning are fellow academy players Hooker Scott Buckley who returns from a knee injury, lock Cian Hurley who returns from a thumb injury, and outside back Jonathan Wren who was sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Unfortunately not all players returning to the Munster camp this week are returning to training. Springboks lock RG Snyman has returned to the province to continue his rehab from a skin graft procedure and knee injury. Also continuing rehab is back-row John Hodnett, who suffered a achilles tendon injury last November.

Among those returning to the Munster pre-season camp are new signings Jason Jenkins, Rowan Osborne and the familiar Simon Zebo, who all joined the rest of the squad at Munster’s High Performance Facility.

Munster return to Thomond Park in September to face Bath in a pre-season friendly game, the game is set to take place September 4th 2021 at 3pm.
