LIMERICK have booked a place in the semi-final of the Munster Minor football championship with a 2-9 to 1-9 victory over Tipperary yesterday at the LIT Gaelic Grounds.
Kevin Denihan and his side will now look forward to the challenge of Clare in the next stage of the championship on July 30th.
The Shannonsiders took the lead within the first quarter of the game and never looked back. The first water break of the day left Limerick in the lead with the score 1-4 to 1-1. By the second water break, the home side were ahead by five.
Despite some wayward shooting, the Treaty side had enough to hold off the Premier county and secure the vital win.
Denihan’s men will now look to avenge themselves following last years loss to Clare as they will want to put that defeat right and book a place in the Munster Minor football championship final.
Speaking after the game, manager Kevin Denihan was delighted following the victory praised his teams “never say die attitude” but also knows there is room for improvement.
However the result was the main thing for the Minor side who will now recharge and get ready to go again heading into the semi-final as he stated:
“Tonight was all about getting a result…Well be back on the training pitch again Saturday morning and we can’t wait to play Clare in two weeks’ time”.
The Limerick Minor manager discussed the victory in depth, the preparation heading into the game, the difficulty of the year’s training with the pandemic and how they will look to get ready for the challenge of Clare.
