ADAM English was the star of the show in Monday evening as Limerick booked their place in the Munster U20 Hurling Final.

On Sunday afternoon, Limerick senior hurler Kyle Hayes took all the plaudits as his sensational goal against Tipp in the Munster final was immediately hailed as one of the best ever.

Collecting the ball on his own 65′, Hayes took on a pair of Tipperary defenders, leaving them in his wake, bouncing the ball a couple of times before smashing past Barry Hogan.

Just over 24 hours later, Adam English had his own Kyle Hayes moment in Limerick’s U20 Munster semi-final clash with Cork in the LIT Gaelic Grounds.

After his minor side fell at the All-Ireland semi-final stage a fortnight ago, English announced himself to the 20s scene with a number of exquisite scores in the first period as Limerick took a 0-13 to 0-6 lead into the dressing rooms.

English continued where he left off in the second half, taking his personal tally to 0-6, all coming from play, all from differing angles across the field.

However, the Doon teenager saved his best for last as he rounded off a magnificent personal display with a goal for the ages.

Collecting the ball over his shoulder just outside the 45′, English sold his man with a brilliantly executed dummy. Such was the forwards form, the Clare man had no option but the attempt the block.

With his man in the rearview, English set his sight on goal, despite standing outside the 45. He was quickly closed down by the Banner corner back who was powerless to stop him, as English shrugged him to the floor without ever breaking stride.

21 yards from goal, English sent an arrow past the despairing Clare keeper to finish the game as a contest.

Hayes’ effort the day before somewhat diluted the effort but there is no doubting the exceptional nature of the strike.

Up next for English and co is Cork in the Munster final on Wednesday.
