Treaty United and Fairview Rangers Learn FAI Senior Cup Fate

LIMERICK clubs Treaty United and Fairview Rangers have learned their fate in the FAI Senior Cup first round.

The Limerick District League club will host Airtricty League Premier Division side Finn Harps at the Fairgreen while Treaty will have the unenviable task of welcoming Dundalk to the Markets Field.

Both games are due to take place on the weekend ending July 25th and further information on the exact day and time will be made available in due course. It wont be the first time that Fairview have faced League of Ireland opposition and they were successful in 2003, beating Dublin City 4-1 while also facing next week’s opponents and Bray Wanderers on other occasions during their successful years at FAI Junior Cup level.

It will be an exceptionally tough task for Jason Purcell’s side who knocked Galway rivals Athenry out of the competition on penalties last weekend following a 2-2 draw after extra-time. New signings Kennedy N’dip and Conor Coughlan both made their competitive debuts on the night.

There are some interesting ties to be decided in this round with Drogheda United hosting Derry City and Shamrock Rovers welcoming John Caulfield’s high flying Galway to Tallaght Stadium. There will also be a number of non-league sides in the second round draw with the likes Maynooth facing Malahide United and Killester/Donnycarney vs Usher Celtic.
