TWO-time All-Ireland winner Mike Casey was back in action last Sunday for his club Na Piarsaigh in their City League win over Monaleen.
Casey suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in a challenge game for Limerick in October of last year and missed out on the All-Ireland winning campaign.
The teak tough defender made his long awaited return for Na Piarsaigh on Sunday during their 2-18 to 1-17 win over Monaleen.
Ahead of Limerick’s Munster semi-final clash with Cork, John Kiely provided a positive update on Casey.
“Mike Casey is doing extremely well. He is making tremendous progress, but we will not be putting him into a situation where we are putting him forward faster than it needs to be.
“He has milestones he needs to achieve, he is working very hard towards those milestones.”
Casey’s return will be another boost to Kiely with Richie English making his first championship appearance in the green jersey since 2019 on Saturday.
Elsewhere, fellow intercounty hurlers David Dempsey and Jerome Boylan were also in action for the Caherdavin side.
Na Piarsaigh are the current county champions and will be bidding for a seventh title in ten years later this year.
