MUNSTER and Ireland centre Chris Farrell has been released from the Irish camp for the 2021 Summer Series.
The Tyrone native suffered a head injury during Ireland’s test match against Japan at the Aviva Stadium last weekend, Farrell will return to the care of the Munster medical team for the remainder of his treatment as per the return to play protocol.
Farrell scored the game’s opening try in the 7th minute, but would only make it to the 2nd minute of the second half before he would be removed for a HIA or Head Injury Assessment.
Also ruled out for the remainder of the summer series is Leinster winger Jordan Larmour, who suffered a groin injury in the first half against Japan. Larmour will also return to his respective province Leinster to continue his rehabilitation.
Among Farrell and Larmour leaving the Irish camp this week is Munster’s veteran back row Peter O’Mahony. After a long season of rugby, O’Mahony will depart the Irish camp to begin his off season.
With three key players unavailable for selection for Ireland’s clash against the USA this weekend, head coach Andy Farrell is expected to explore his player options when picking the team for Ireland’s final game of the season.

Ireland’s battle with the USA is set to kick-off at 7:15pm this Saturday July 10th, at the Aviva stadium. A reduced capacity of 5,418 (10%) spectators will be allowed to attend the game in keeping with government guidelines.
