Dorothy Wall Secures Munster’s Women’s Player of the Year Award

TIPPERARY’S Dorothy Wall enjoyed an impressive season with some outstanding performances at both provincial and international level.

Wall began her rugby career with Fethard & District RFC, before progressing through the Munster pathway which saw her achieve further success at under-age level.

The Munster back-row lined out for Munster’s Women’s side during the 2019/2020 interprovincial championship, she then made her international debut against Scotland in the 2020 Six Nations.

Two further appearances as a replacement followed, until Wall earned her first start for Ireland Women’s in the rescheduled Six Nations clash with Italy in October 2020.

Wall backed up her first international test as a starter with three further starts in the recently concluded 2021 Six Nations as she established herself as a key player within Adam Griggs’ side which included tries against Wales and Italy. The 21 year old has her sights set on World Cup Qualifiers and will likely be included in the Irish Women’s sevens squad also.

Her performances this season have been praised, particularly for her powerful ball-carrying and her relentless work-ethic at the breakdown and in defence. Despite only having seven caps to her name, the Tipperary woman is already leading by her actions on the pitch in both red and in green. She is well-deserving of the Women’s Player of the Year award.
