Weekend sport | What to watch and where to find it

THIS weekend sees an exciting line up of sport with rugby, golf, GAA and the beginning of the European Championship in soccer and much more. We will walk you through what’s on, when it’s on and where you can find it.

Saturday sees the 2nd test between England and New Zealand take place in Cricket which can be found on Sky Sports Cricket from 10am.

This weekends golf sees the Scandinavian Mixed take place from 12.30pm-5pm this Saturday on Sky Sports Golf and the Palmetto Championship from 6pm-11pm on the same channel.

Tennis enthusiasts can tune into Eurosport from 1.30pm-6.30pm to view the French Open from Roland Garros and also find the event on ITV4 from 1.30pm-7.30pm.

While the Rugby fans will have their fill with English Premiership fixtures including Wasps v Leicester Tigers that will take place at 3pm on BT Sport 1.

Exeter Chiefs will host Sale Sharks at the same time on BT Sport 3.BT Sport Extra offers more games from the English Premiership with three more fixtures involving Bath v Northampton, Bristol v London Irish and finally Harlequins v Newcastle all kicking off at 3pm.

The Rainbow Cup fixture between Stormers and Lions will be shown on eir Sport 2 and Premier Sports 1 at 3pm.The other match in the Rainbow Cup offers a mouth-watering tie involving  the Sharks v Bulls that will take place at 5.15pm.

Soccer this weekend will be action packed and should not disappoint as the UEFA EURO 2020 tournament begins. Saturdays fixtures will see Wales play Switzerland in Group A at 2.00pm and will be broadcast by both RTE 2 and BBC 1, later following this tie you can watch the 5pm Kick off between Denmark and Finland.

The late kick off will see Belgium take on Russia at 8pm with UTV and RTE 2 showing the highly anticipated matchup. Highlights from the days fixtures will be on offer from 11.20pm-11.50pm on RTE 2.

GAA hits the screens again this weekend as Clare take on Kilkenny in the hurling in Division 1 at 2.30pm on eir Sport 1, while the women’s football league Division 1 semi-final provides an interesting game with Donegal v Cork with TG4 providing the coverage from 2.45pm.

More semi-final action takes place with Tyrone v Kerry at 5pm and Donegal v Dublin at 7.15pm also on TG4.

Saturdays action comes to a close with Sky Sports Boxing showing the interesting bout between Lewis Ritson v Jeremias Ponce in a world title final eliminator.

Sunday sports will certainly live up to the expectation and match Saturdays action. The GAA continues with Clare v Mayo at 1.45pm in the Football League Division 2 semi-final and the Football League Division 1 relegation Play-off including Monaghan and Galway at 3.45pm.Highlights for GAA can be found on RTE 2 from 10.15pm-11.45pm.

The Golf and cricket will continue through to Sunday with the 2nd test action between England and New Zealand while the golf from the Scandinavian Mixed and Palmetto Championship also carries over from Saturday, the cricket will be available to view on Sky Sports Cricket from 10.15am , the golf can be found on Sky Sports Golf at 12.30pm-5.30pm with the later Palmetto Championship being broadcasted at 6pm.

The Rainbow Cups interesting ties this weekend will continue with Scarlets facing Edinburgh from 1pm on eir Sport 1. The English Championship Final 1st leg between Ealing and Saracens is available from 4.30pm on Premier Sports 1.

EURO 2020 action from Group C and D offers three highly exciting ties including England v Croatia in Group D from 2pm on BBC1 and RTE 2. The other two games include Austria v North Macedonia at 5pm and Netherlands v Ukraine kicking off late at 8pm with both available on UTV and RTE 2.

Highlights from the UEFA competition will again be available to round up the days goals and events at 11.15 on BBC 1. More soccer is available with Copa America action between Brazil and Venezuela at 10pm and for the night owls the 1am kick-off will see Colombia take on Ecuador.

To round up an exciting weekend of sport, UFC 263 from Arizona includes several thrilling fights take place including two title fights, Israel Adesanya v Marvin Vettori headlines the card while Deiveson Figueiredo v Brandon Moreno and Leon Edward v Nate Diaz will also fill in the exciting line up of fights. The main card can be seen on BT Sport 1 from 3am.
