CLARE based duo Aileen & Sticks (aka Aileen Downes and Brian Bermingham) have released a new single.
The song is called ‘Saoirse’ which translates as โfreedomโ in Irish and the use of language is the spark for an exploration into how meaningful and beautiful phrases in the Irish language can be lost in translation sometimes.
Aileen gives an example of Tรก brรณn orm which translates as โthere is sadness on meโ as opposed simply saying you are sad giving it a different meaning.
The song was written and sung by Aileen Downes, recorded by Brian Bermingham (Sticks) with electric guitar, strings and piano supplied by frequent collaborator John Steele who also produced and mixed the track. Mastered by Richard Dowling at WAV Mastering with sleeve artwork by Tady Walsh โSaoirseโ by Aileen & Sticks is out now on all streaming platforms.
