Businesses continue working with EmployAbility Limerick in the challenging times of Covid-19

EmployAbility Limerick is a government funded Employment Support Service who are committed to providing a professional employment support services for people recovering from an injury, illness, health condition or have a disability. In addition, the service also tends to local business recruitment and employment needs throughout Limerick City and County.

Ursula Mackenzie Coordinator of EmployAbility Limerick says “last year was a difficult year for a lot of us, it was especially challenging for people with disabilities in finding work.
“Despite the challenges Covid-19 brought to some local businesses, they remained open to working with EmployAbility Limerick and we succeeded in placing a number of our clients into employment”.

Like so many other businesses EmployAbility Limerick have had to adapt to blended working, for us this meant engaging with employers and business networks over Zoom. However this helped the service reach more companies and we have had a positive response with a number of businesses providing job opportunities for our clients last year; it is so encouraging for the future.”

One business was Optima Training & Consulting based in Castletroy, Adrian Carmody says “Optima Training are delighted to work with the team at Employability Limerick and highly recommend their service and support in the very beneficial work they do. Our experience has been of quality candidates looking for the opportunity to return to employment and of those candidates being highly motivated and appreciative of the opportunities to join or re-join the workforce”.

Ursula added “because we know the big contribution people with disabilities can make to the local economy, we are continually looking for more employers to promote equal opportunities and bridge the gap by including employees with disabilities in their workplace.”

People with disabilities hold great resilience in the face of difficulty and EmployAbility Limerick has thankfully done the same during this challenging time. Building relationships with employers and providing advice and guidance has been a huge focus for the team and has allowed us to continue supporting the business community and build a stronger network than ever.
