NEWLY appointed Treaty United senior manager Tommy Barrett says that it is vital for the further development of the club that the senior men’s side are accepted into the Airtricity League First Division.
Barrett was unveiled on Friday despite the fact that the club await the results of the licensing process which might not be known until the end of February.
The former Limerick FC manager says it is vital for the development of young players to have a senior team to aspire to play for.
“I think it is important that we have a senior men’s team in the region. It is vital for the development of young players in the region that they have somewhere to go and something to aim for.
“Football in this country isn’t a very developed industry so there aren’t many opportunities for young players to play in a professional league. It is important that we have the opportunity here for them to do it.” he said.
