THE show must go on – even if it is not in a theatre
Pat Moylan Productions presents the world premiere of The Secrets of Primrose Square Written and adapted for the stage by Claudia Carroll based on the book of the same name: Discover The Secrets of Primrose Square
Virtual tour dates – January / February 2021 An instant hit when published in 2018, The Secrets of Primrose Square by Claudia Carroll remained in the charts for 14 weeks.
During Covid-19 lockdown, it was the number one downloaded book, both in Ireland and the UK. In August and September 2020, the audio book reached no. 1 in the public library download charts in Ireland, followed in the no. 2 spot by Normal People.
It was announced today that the stage production based on the book of the same name will premiere in January 2021. Directed by Mark Lambert, this stage adaptation is written by Claudia Carroll herself.
This premiere production will feature Megan McDonnell (Elaine in Normal People & The Playboy of the Western World Lyric Theatre & DTF), Clelia Murphy (Fair City, The Sound of Music, Bord Gais Energy Theatre & UK tour) and Marion O’Dwyer (one of Ireland’s most renowned actors of stage and screen).
Audiences will have the chance to experience the world of Primrose Square from the safety of their homes. This decision to make it available to stream at home was made due to the ongoing impact of Covid-19 on theatres, which are not open during this level of restrictions.
Working with venues across the country Pat Moylan has designed a ‘virtual tour’ for this unmissable production which will be filmed and available to stream. Simply check out the virtual tour dates at http://www.facebook.com/SecretsOfPrimroseSquare, choose the date you would like, go to the corresponding venue website and purchase your ticket to stream on that date at home.
A visit to Primrose Square provides us with tears, laughter and gossip in equal proportions.
Welcome to Primrose Square… At number eighteen, there’s Susan – an ordinary woman dealing with the unimaginable, while her teenage daughter Melissa desperately tries to keep the family together. Next door we have sixty-something Jayne, who’s found love again – or has she?
Creative team: Director Mark Lambert, Lighting Designer Brian Mitchell and Set/Costume Designer Kate Moylan.
This project has been part-funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht Sport and Media from the Live Performance Support Scheme.
