LIMERICK City Gallery of Art (LCGA) has opened a new exhibition highlighting links between artists and Limerick throughout the past half a century.
Limerick Connectionsย isย an exhibition of works by artists associated with Limerick from theย 1970s to the present day with a total of 67 artists included in the show with a strong emphasis on painting.
The diverse nature of the exhibition gives a full appraisal of how techniques and subject matter have changed over the lastย 50ย years but the fundamental gesture of painting remains the same.ย

It seemed appropriateย thatย afterย the enforced period of lockdownย thatย Limerick City Gallery of Art has delved into itsย Permanent Collectionย to โdust downโย this treasure trove of works.ย
Director/ Curator with Limerick City Gallery of Art Una McCarthy said, โThe Permanent Collection has a very proud tradition of supporting artists from this era including Jack Donovan, Walter Verling, Tom Fitzgerald, Vivienne Bogan, John Shinnors through the 1980s and 1990s with artists Diana Copperwhite, รine Nic Giolla Coda and Robert Ryan represented.โย
The pieces included in the exhibition are by artists who are strongly connected to Limerick and who have won national acclaim or by younger artists who undoubtedly will go on to great things.ย
โWe are delighted to includeย work by younger artistsย as wellย suchย as Ramonย Kassamย and Gillian Kenny and finallyย new work by graduates from the recent 2020 Degree show which was heldย recentlyย in LCGA.โย
Limerick City Gallery of Art isย currentlyย open 10 am -5 pm Monday to Saturday andย 12 noon โ 5 pm on Sunday.ย
Itย isnโtย necessary to make an appointment unless it is a group of seven or moreย people.ย
