A Lust For Life recently launched their wellness workout for kids from their Schools Wellbeing Programme.

Their social media pages include several practical resources to help people with their mental health, including live broadcasts, podcasts, articles, and positive campaigns.

Some of these resources are set out below:

  • On Monday – Thursday at 9pm a live Facebook broadcast which is promoted across Instagram and Twitter, and includes sessions with clinical Psychologists Dr. Eddie Murphy and Dr Mailie Coyle, as well as meditation with Niall Breslin;
  • The ‘‘Where is my Mind’ podcast offers a six-week course in mindfulness and meditation;
  • The ‘sound effect’ campaign in order to share stories of good will on social media, demonstrating that soundness is alive and well, and people are being sound to each other at this time. They are using the hashtags #soundeffect #coronakindess to highlight this.
  • They have created a new ‘Self Care During COVID-19’ section on the website which includes mindfulness and meditation articles, as well as expert advice on saying safe, and mentally well during these times.

In addition to these initiatives, and under the guidance of Dr Eddie Murphy, Clinical Psychologist and Chair of the A Lust for Life Mental Health Advisory Panel, they have teamed up with TherapyHub.ie (“TherapyHub.ie”)  to offer Psychological First Aid (“PFA”) to any adult suffering stress or anxiety due to Covid-19.

PFA can be accessed for free NOW through the TherapyHub.ie Website.

What is PFA:

  • PFA is “humane, supportive and practical help to fellow human beings who have suffered a serious crisis event.” (WHO, 2011)
  • PFA is non-intrusive practical care and support, that assesses the needs and concerns of those accessing it. It is being provided to help people address basic needs by listening and comforting. It is NOT professional counselling nor is it psychological debriefing.  It is NOT about pressuring people to talk but it IS instead a means of helping people to remain calm, connect to information, services, social supports and to protect them from any further harm.

To date over 220 counsellors/therapists have offered their services for free to provide PFA and Dr Eddie Murphy has provided online training.

65 therapists have completed this training and are now listed as PFA Therapists.

The sessions offered to those seeking them are a one off free session, typically lasting approximately 30 minutes in duration, and you must be over 18 to access this service.
