CONCERNS have been raised over the significant rise in โreckless behaviourโ as Gardaรญ received reports of house parties being held in different areas of the city.
Fine Gael councillor Sarah Kiely told the Limerick Post that she has been contacted by a number of residents fromย Hyde Road, Ballinacurra Weston and Castletroy in relation to weekend house parties.
โFor some, when we say house party in this current situation, we immediately think of the app, unfortunately, that’s not the case for others.ย Last weekend alone, I was told there is a significant rise in such reckless behaviour.
โThese people are downright disrespectful and have no idea how their behaviour is impacting on their neighbours, their community and our health system,โ Cllr Kiely said.
โAt a time when we need to be most vigilant and careful about social physical interaction, we have people, who for no good reason other than selfishness, are having parties.
โIt is unacceptable.โ
The City East representative has been in contact with the Gardaรญ in Roxboro who are monitoring the situation.
โThe Gardaรญ have told me they can only encourage people to do the right thing and maintain a presence in the community as it is illegal to enter a private property, even in this case.
โFrom my point of view, I’ve been in a similar situation before as have anyone who has ever had someone with cancer,ย on chemotherapy or comprised immune system among other illnesses.
“If we all just do the right thing for the greater good, we can come out the other side.
โBefore this Covid-19 virus some people were in isolation for other health reasons. Now that it is here, the wider community need to do the same as a precaution and a safeguard.โ
