THREE years ago the British and Irish Lions played out one of the most exciting Test Tours of all time against New Zealand.
The then World Champions overwhelmed the amalgamation in the first test before Conor Murray and Sean O’Brien lead the fightback in the second Test.
The Series Finale ended in a 15-15 draw and left few happy or content.
While the teams will be hugely changed, there is scope for a once off match to raise much needed funds for the nations Gatland said to Sky Sports New Zealand.
“I’ve spoken to Mark Robinson [CEO of the New Zealand Rugby Union] about a warm-up game for the Lions and he was potentially talking about the New Zealand Maoris.
“But is it something that the All Blacks go up there for? A decider before we go off to South Africa at the end of June next year.
“Potentially it’s an opportunity to make £4m or £5m from a game like that and put some money back into the coffers that we’re going to need.”
