BASOONIST Diego Chenna joins the multi-faceted Jorg Widmann on clarinet for the Irish Chamber Orchestra’s account of the Strauss ‘Duet-Concertino’ “alongside the orchestra’s boisterous rendition of ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ Overture,” reports the ICO’s Charlotte Eglington.
This concert is one of two only, taking place at UCH on Thursday 13 at 8pm, booking www.uch.ie. Dublin Castle is the scene for music on Friday 14.
“Widmann’s personal fascination with Beethoven is evident in his early ‘Con Brio’ of 2008 which is also on the programme,” Charlotte continues. “‘Con Brio’ evolved from an invitation by Mariss Jansons to six internationally acclaimed composers to create short works that allude to a Beethoven symphony. Enjoy Widmann’s response, ‘Con Brio’ is an amazing fun filled soundscape, based on Symphonies 7 and 8.”
Then the clarinettist/ composer takes the baton to see out the impressive concert programme with Beethoven 7.
