Limerick FC Aiming to Recruit Players for Academy

-

In another strange set of events, Limerick Football Club added a post to their social media pages tonight and are recruiting new players for the 2020 Airtricity League underage season.

On the club’s official Twitter page, which has been dormant for months, Limerick FC stated:

“Hi all, Limerick Fc Academy now recruiting in all age groups for the upcoming 2020 Season. Please follow the link below”

Attached to the link was a form for potential new academy players and their parents to fill out if they wish to join the club.

With the Airtricity League launch occuring yesterday, many expected confirmation of whether Limerick FC had been awarded a licence to play in the Airtricity League First Division. However, as of Thursday evening, no confirmation was forthcoming on the matter.

The above recruitment drive suggests that Limerick FC certainly have a future in the league although with recent developments, the football fraternity in Limerick are utterly confused and dissilusioned.

In another twist, rumours are gatherimg pace in Limerick that the newly formed Treaty United group were once again threatened with legal action and their future looks uncertain.

It has been a roller coaster month as just three weeks ago, a press conference was held at the Castletroy Park Hotel with a new dawn for Limerick football promised.

However, just three days later, Limerick FC owner Pat O’Sullivan was victorious in his legal battle with the Football Association of Ireland in the High Court which allowed Limerick FC to apply for a licence.

O’Sullivan issued a rallying cry urging Limerick United to unite with Limerick FC. No interaction appeared to be forthcoming. Just last week, Conn Murray and the former ‘Limerick United’ group were forced to change their name to Treaty United following the threat of legal actiom from Limerick FC.
