“FINDING meaning in our culture” is the sense that underpins a February series of Tuesday weekly talks at 1pm in St Mary’s Cathedral. The lunchtime exploration begins on Tuesday 4 next with Limerick City Gallery of Art’s director Úna McCarthy talking about Raphael’s art.
With ‘David Copperfield’ now running in cinemas nationally, a look at Charles Dickens’ canon is subject matter for Dr John McDonagh on Tuesday February 11 and music occupies space on Tuesday 18. That’s when musicologist Dr Michael Murphy takes the gathering through aspects of Beethoven’s music.
The month’s talks, gathered under the title of ‘How Shall I Sing Thy Majesty’ and exploring art forms, finalises with Zeb Moore talking about Alfred Hitchcock’s legacy. Zeb is co-founder of the Richard Harris International Film Festival taking place each October bank holiday week.
