James Cronin made his long-awaited return to action during pre-season for Munster and is looking to make up on lost time after a frustrating 12 months.

The loosehead prop had been out since last November due a number of injuries that also blighted any chance of going to the World Cup with Ireland.

“Last November I had a bit of knee issue. Tried to rehab it here first, but that didn’t work. Went up to Ray Moore in Santry and had a bit of a cleanout job.

“It was a bit of a disaster after that. Rehab and then I was almost back. Then I tweaked my hamstring before the quarter-final for Europe.

“Then it was the semi-final and I re-tweaked it again, I was trying my hardest to get back out on the field, but the body was saying cool the jets.
