Sheku Kanneh-Mason has attracted attention worldwide for his virtuosity, intensity of playing along with the sensitivity of his interpretations. He teams up with the Irish Chamber Orchestra and budding Hungarian conductor, Gábor Kali for his Irish concert debut.
Sheku has been on a whirlwind adventure since winning BBC Young Musician 2016 – performing at the BAFTAs, appearing at the BBC Proms, Royal Weddings and so much more. All this whilst studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
He performs Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto No. 1, a firm favourite with its fabulous opening flourish, providing Sheku opportunity for some lush lyricism throughout. Works by Beethoven, Bizet and Deirdre McKay feature on the programme.
