School bus place tickets now being issued to pupils

Fine Gael Senator Kieran O'Donnell

LIMERICK Senator Kieran O’Donnell has been advised by Bus Éireann that school bus tickets are now issuing to pupils from the greater East Limerick areas of Caherconlish, Ballyneety, Balybricken and Fedamore attending John the Baptist Secondary School in Hospital.

Education Minister Joe McHugh and his Department have worked with Bus Éireann to ensure provision of these necessary school bus places. This follows lengthy representations from Senator O’Donnell to Education Minister Joe McHugh and Bus Éireann.

“I am delighted that after a long campaign with parents and the School, Bus Eireann have informed me that they are now issuing bus place tickets to pupils from the greater East Limerick areas of Caherconlish, Ballyneety, Balybricken and Fedamore attending the local St. John the Baptist secondary school in Hospital.

“This will come as a great sense of relief to pupils and their parents knowing that they have school bus tickets in place before the start of the school term. I know from dealing with the parents over the last number of years the severe anxiety this caused.

“I have been working consistently on reaching a solution to this specific school transport issue for St John the Baptist Secondary School, Hospital for the last year and held numerous meetings with Bus Eireann, parents, the School and Education Minister Joe McHugh to progress this important matter. Particularly, I was adamant that families would not have to deal with any further uncertainty around this issue.

“I wish to thank Education Minister Joe McHugh and his officials for their work with Bus Éireann in finding a solution here and also pay particular compliment to Arlene Gleeson of the parents association, John the Baptist Secondary School and the local Bus Éireann school transport staff who have worked tirelessly on this important matter.
