Limerick organisations are being encouraged to apply for funding under the latest call-out from Social Innovation Fund Ireland (SIFI).
The Sports to Impact and Arts to Impact Funds 2020 are now open for applications. The funding was created by Social Innovation Fund Ireland (SIFI) in partnership with the Department of Rural and Community Development. The Department provides match funding for all philanthropic funds raised by SIFI, via the Dormant Accounts Fund.
The goal of the Sports to Impact Fund is to support the innovative use of sports as a means to improve physical and mental health and to promote social inclusion for children, adolescents and adults. The judges are looking for innovative projects or programmes that focus on using sports as a means to create positive social impact in the lives of individuals and in communities across Ireland.
The goal of the Arts to Impact Fund is to support the innovative use of arts and culture as a means to improve skills development and to promote social inclusion for children, adolescents and adults.
Projects can focus on prevention or intervention, in order to develop or improve creative, cognitive, social and emotional skills and other specific learning outcomes.
Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr Michael Sheahan said: “These two funding streams can provide important funding for projects in Limerick and I would encourage all those eligible to apply for it. Innovation needs to be key in the provision of services nowadays, so if you have a novel or unusual idea why not see if it can be developed.”
SIFI was set up by the government to find and back innovative solutions to critical social issues around the country. For more information about the Social Innovation Fund Ireland visit socialinnovation.ie.
