TWO Limerick based social enterprise projects were names as Awardees of a social enterprise development fund.
St. Gabriels Orthotic Services and The Urban Co-Op will receive cash grants of between €10,000 and €50,000 and a place on Ireland’s most prestigious Accelerator Programme for Social Enterprises.
Both groups were shortlisted from a list of 200 applicants and will also land a place on Ireland’s most prestigious Accelerator Programme for social enterprises.
St Gabriel’s Orthotics provide orthotics to children with disabilities where the child’s needs are the primary focus.
The Urban Co-Op are improving community wellness by providing wholesome food at affordable prices and are operated by the community for the community.
Declan Sweeney, Manager Regional Orthotics Services, St Gabriel’s Centre said: ‘”Winning this award is an absolute game-changer for our social enterprise. Our work aims to positively impact on the quality of life for children with physical disabilities
“The fund and the supports offered from Social Innovation Fund Ireland will help us realise our vision in creating a centre of excellence for orthotic treatments throughout the Midwest of Ireland.” he added.
