LIMERICK’S internationally trained opera star Sarah Dolan will join the military bands and pipes of the Defence Forces at University Concert Hall this Saturday June 22 at 8pm. This annual Summer Proms promises an upbeat and visually rich evening of opera, musical numbers and rousing military-band tunes.
Sarah Dolan has a Masters in Music from the San Francisco Conservatory and is a recipient of the Thomas Moore Vocal Bursary.
“I was delighted to be asked to perform with the military bands and pipes of the Defence Forces under the baton of Captain Brian Prendergast,” Sarah tells Limerick Post. “I performed with them at the Proms in the Park in 2014 and it was a fantastic concert. I love the programme, it has something for everyone.
“I am so looking forward to performing with them again at the University Concert Hall this weekend!
“I will be singing some arias, ‘I Dreamt I Dwelt in Marble Halls’ from The Bohemian Girl by Balfe, ‘Ebben n’andro Lontana’ from La Wally by Catalani and ‘O mio Babbino Caro. I will also be singing some classical musical theatre pieces, ‘Can’t help Lovin dat Man’ from Showboat, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ from Carousel and ‘I Could have Danced All Night’ from My Fair Lady.”
The concert hall forecasts infectious band numbers as well such as the ‘French Military March’, ‘Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy’ and more. Booking on www.uch.ie
