METAL bands Behemoth and Amon Amarth rocked King Johnโs Castle on Monday night June 17 in front of a huge crowd who were treated to loud and epic shows played in a positive, party atmosphere in the setting sun over the Shannon.
Swedish metal band Amon Amarth walked onstage at the ancient Viking site at King Johnโs Castle to reclaim Limerick for just one night to party with us. And thatโs exactly what Limerick got. Pyrotechnics, smoke, Viking warriors doing battle on stage and a tribal and rousing metal show, playing tracks from new record โBerserkerโ and big hands-in-the-air anthems โTwilight of the Thunder Godโ and โRaise Your Hornsโ.
Black metallers Behemoth are touring their record โI Loved You At Your Darkestโ. Vocalist/ guitarist Adam Nergal Darski stopped the concert briefly to address the huge crowd on recent attempts to have the bandโs Limerick concert banned.
โCan anything, any court, any authority, any religion, any poison, stop free-thinking music worshipping people? โNo?
โRaise your finger and say โf*ck, noโ.โ
With the crowd roaring their support for the Polish band, Behemoth launched back into what was the biggest metal event in Limerick …. so far!
