INSPIRED by the centenary of the Limerick Soviet, The High Kicks of Limerick (an over 50s dance ensemble) have worked alongside choreographer Jessie Keenan to create a new dance performance this May. Catch ‘STRIKE’ this weekend, an afternoon performance at Dance Limerick for an hour on Saturday 18 beginning at 2.30pm.
This work draws on the increasing pressure and tension between the British Military and the workers of Limerick just before the strike, and the sudden, dramatic breaking point that resulted in the formation of a ten day soviet.
The High Kicks will create a dance piece that re-imagines the exceptional atmosphere and energy within Limerick during April 1919.
