SHANNON Group chief executive Matthew Thomas is set to leave the company in June to take a new role with the Ports of Jersey.
Deputy Chief Executive and Shannon Chamber president Mary Considine, will step into the role until a new appointment is made.
Having joined the group in 2016, Mr Thomas has seen airport figures grow, the launch of extensive development plans within the group and an increase in occupancy at the Shannon Free Zone where only six per cent of its property portfolio is available for letting.
He was spearheading a number of initiatives to improve the Shannon Group’s future growth prospects and had called for polices to be adopted to ensure a regional balance in growth in jobs and employment.
The Shannon Group now supports 46,000 jobs and the strategic plan had set a target of 54,000 jobs to be reached by the end of 2021.
Chairperson Rose Hynes paid tribute to Mr Thomas’ contribution to the region over the past three years.
