Limerick secured their place in the 2019 National Hurling League yesterday after defeating Dublin in a physical encounter in Nowlan Park.
Although Limerick looked to have the game wrapped up in the 63rd minute after Seamus Flanagan goaled, Dublin clawed back to within one score of the All-Ireland champions in a game that finished 1-19 to 1-16.
Speaking after the game, Kiely spoke about the disruptive nature of the game, with a number of injuries preventing the game from ever reaching its flow.
“It was a very stop start game. That was just the nature of the way the game evolved today.
“Some days you just have to grind it out and that was for me one of those days where you have to grind it out.”
“That was a great challenge for us today. To make sure we stuck to the process. That we didn’t deviate. That we just stuck to what we can do and what we came to do.”
Regardless, Limerick are into their first League final since 2006 and will play Waterford in the decider next Sunday in Croke Park at 2pm.
