PROTESTERS will take to the city’s streets later this month to demand sustainable solutions to the deepening housing crisis.
Organised by Limerick Housing Action, the march will start from the People’s Park at 1pm on Saturday, February 23 and make its way to City Hall where it will be addressed by a number of speakers.
The recently formed group of community activists aims are to provide support for those affected by the housing crisis and to demand meaningful change.
There has been a 256 per cent increase in the number of children homeless in Limerick since 2016, with six per cent of people currently homeless in Ireland living in the Mid-West region.
“The government must be held accountable for its shameless inaction and on February 23, our demands will be made clear,” a spokesperson for the group said.
Anyone interested in getting involved with the group should attend an open meeting on Monday, February 11 at 7pm in the Northside Family Resource Centre.
