Former Limerick FC midfielder Eoin Wearen signed for Irish Premiership side Glenavon on Monday night on a two and a half year deal. 26 year old Wearen made 21 appearances for Tommy Barrettโ€™s men during the 2018 season, most of which were at centre-back due to a lack of options. The former Bohemians midfielderโ€™s career has stagnated due to injury in recent times and he will be looking for a fresh start at Mourneview Park.

Speaking to Glenavonโ€™s official club website on Monday evening, manager Gary Hamilton was delighted with the signature.
โ€œHe can play centre half or centre midfield and heโ€™s good with both feet. Heโ€™s a versatile player whoโ€™ll be a big presence as well. Weโ€™re delighted to get Eoin in and the fact he can play in two positions is a good thing too.โ€ย

Also speaking to http://www.glenavonfc.com/, Wearen was equally as pleased to complete the deal which he states came about quickly following an approach last week.
โ€œIโ€™m delighted to get the deal done. I found out last week that there was some interest and Iโ€™m happy get all signed up now and Iโ€™m looking forward to getting going. Iโ€™m equally comfortable in both positions and wherever Iโ€™m needed Iโ€™m happy to play.โ€

Despite stating his familiarity with both centre-back and central midfield, the Dubliner struggled in midfield for the Super Blues last year and appeared to be more suited to a defensive role, albeit in a struggling side. Wearen is awaiting international clearance to see if he will be available for Saturdayโ€™s cup game against Dungannon Swifts.
