‘ALICE in Wonderland’ bursts on stage tonight, Friday 28 at Lime Tree Theatre and will keep us enthralled until January 6. From producer Tony Cusack, we hear that “this season’s offering will be the society’s 34th annual production, Limerick Panto Society having begun back in January 1986 with ‘Cinderella’.
“Tim Cusack will again play the Dame and this year he is the Queen of Hearts,” says Tony of his actor brother. “Tim will enthral both young and old with his comic antics in what promises to be an outstanding production. Furthermore, he has written an exciting new script which he says was inspired by our dear friend, the late John Finn.”
Regular leading lady Emma O’Driscoll (RTE) of Gemstars Stage School will play Alice.
Fresh from triumph in Cecilian Musical Society’s ‘The Producers’ – for which he played the nervy virgin Leopold Bloom so convincingly – Jason Ronan morphs into “the Caterpillar with a twist”.
“The story, as usual, contains many surprises and promises many a turn along the way,” says Tony, big daddy to this friendly family-oriented panto troupe. “The talented Stuart Mackey is back in the iconic role of the Mad Hatter. Stuart, as always, will bring massive energy to this role as he makes it his own.”
‘Alice in Wonderland’ is backed by Crescent Shopping Centre, Mr Binman, Limerick City Hotel, McGettigan’s, Shannon Airport, Quirke Shaw Cleaning Supplies and McDonalds; St Gabriel’s Centre is the charity beneficiary.
