FOLLOWING the success of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’, the much loved Cecilian Musical Society brought the Mel Brooks classic ‘The Producers’ to the stage at Lime Tree Theatre recently.
Cecilian Musical Society is a proud institution here in Limerick with a rich history and incredibly, is now in their 99th year.
What better way to celebrate than with an outrageous and fun show like the ‘The Producers’? It’s the story of a struggling Broadway producer and his long-suffering accountant who come up with a hair-brained scheme to produce the most infamous flop in history to outsmart their backers – only to find the show is a smash hit!
Director Des Henn and choreographer Barbara Meaney and musical director Michael Young helped bring the hysterical story to the stage with a fantastic cast including Dickie Donnelly as Max Bialystock, Jason Ronan as Leo Bloom, Tara Downes as Ulla, Brian Henry as Rodger de Bris James Malone as Carmen Ghia and Barry Danaher as Franz.
As you can see from our photographs, the audience at Lime Tree Theatre had a fantastic evening of music and laughter so congratulations to everyone involved in this year’s production.
