Matchbook Betting Exchange announced as the new sponsor of Limerick’s Grade 1 Novice Chase
Limerick Racecourse has announced Matchbook Betting Exchange as the new sponsor of the Matchbook Betting Exchange Grade 1 Novice Chase on St Stephen’s Day as part of a three-year agreement. The Matchbook Betting Exchange Grade 1 Novice Chase is the feature race on St. Stephen’s Day, the opening day of the iconic four-day Mr Binman Christmas Racing Festival. The race, over a distance of 2 miles and 3½ furlongs, has been won by subsequent Grade 1 winners Sir Des Champs, Gilgamboa, Outlander and Bellshill in recent years and is the only Grade 1 race in Munster. The Matchbook Betting Exchange Grade 1 Novice Chase will be shown live on RTE television on St Stephen’s Day. Patrick O’Callaghan, General Manager of Limerick Racecourse, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Matchbook Betting Exchange to Limerick Racecourse as sponsor of The Matchbook Betting Exchange Grade 1 Novice Chase for the next three years. The Matchbook Betting Exchange Grade 1 Novice Chase has always been a distinctive race with notable winners in recent years. Thanks to their very generous support we will be increasing the prize fund to €100,000 which will make it one of the most valuable races run in Ireland on the day. Vote now for 2018 Horse Racing Ireland Ride of the Year Award
Voting is now open for the 2018 Ride of the Year Award. The winner will be announced at the annual Horse Racing Ireland Awards on Tuesday, December 4. Two of Ireland’s greatest jockeys, Johnny Murtagh and Ruby Walsh, have chosen six nominees and it’s up to racing fans to decide on the winner. Everyone can vote through goracing.ie. Johnny and Ruby’s reasoning behind their shortlist, videos of each nominated ride and the link to the dedicated voting webpage can be found on goracing.ie and all HRI social media channels. Voting will remain open until 12noon on Sunday, December 2. The nominations for this new award are jockeys Colin Keane, Derek O’Connor, Kevin Manning, Davy Russell, Danny Sheehy and Paul Townend.
