Munster Junior Cup fourth round draw 2018/19

Eight Limerick District League teams learned their fate for the fourth round of the Munster Junior Cup on Thursday night. There is a big interest in the competition locally with three Limerick sides given home advantage and four teams being drawn away from Shannonside. The representatives will be hoping to reach the last 16 of the competition.

Galtee Fuels Division 1A side Holycross received a home draw as they face either former district league side Shannon Hibernians or another Clare based side Sporting Ennistymon. Holycross defeated Moyross in their last outing. Pike Rovers were also handed home advantage as they entertain City Wanderers from Cork. Pike are the current holders of the Munster Junior Cup having beaten fellow Limerick side Janesboro in the final at Jackman Park in 2018.

Janesboro will have to overcome local rivals Geraldines if they are to face either Douglas Hall or Leeside in the fourth round of the competition. The game will be played at Pearse Stadium or Garryowen Green. Prospect Priory must travel to Cork to face Pearse Celtic after beating local rivals Hyde Rangers with a last minute Pat Whelan goal in the third round.

Title chasing Ballynanty Rovers will make the short trip to Kerry to face one of Castleisland or Killarney Celtic. Donal Magee’s men were pushed all the way by Nenagh in the last round as they advanced on penalties. Fellow Limerick hopefuls Regional Utd will look to continue their fine form but will have a while to find out their opponent as they could face any one of Peake Villa, Slieveardagh or Cullen Lattin and will be away from home.

Killmallock United were drawn away to either Kilfrush Rangers or Avenue United. Both sides are near neighbours so a trip to Clare is a guarantee.
