THE latest date with Limerick Jazz Society at Dolan’s Upstairs is on Thursday, November 15 when bassist Ronan Guilfoyle’s composition, a suite of music called ‘Life Cycle’, takes centre stage. One of Ireland’s strongest jazz musicians and influencers, this Guilfoyle – there’s a family of extraordinary composer/ players – reached 60 this year, created ‘Life Cycle’ in response and has pulled together “a world-class ensemble to perform it.”
Look forward to Ronan leading Michael Buckley and America’s Jim Black on drums with Chris Guilfoyle (son of) playing the guitar for this celebratory tour. The quality of musicianship will be extraordinary. Bear in mind that jazz supremo Ronan Guilfoyle has recorded 50 plus albums and was the founder of the country’s first non-classical performance degree programme. Doors 8.30pm
