Golden Discs will open a new store at Crescent Shopping Centre this Saturday 10 taking their total of outlets across the country to nineteen.
Managing Director, Stephen Fitzgerald tild Limerick Post that sales growth in vinyl and the recent success of the Golden Discs’ Cruises Street store prompted the move to reopen in Dooradoyle.
“It was an easy decision to open a second location in Limerick in the Crescent Shopping Centre. This was a location in which Golden Discs previously traded so it feels a little like coming home.”
Sales growth at Golden Discs is in no small part driven by the Vinyl Renaissance. Vinyl sales represent a core part of Golden Discs’ business and are up 60% year to date. “The Vinyl renaissance shows no sign of abating. The major labels are reissuing catalogue albums every week as well as all the new releases. What started as a niche format for hardcore music fans is more and more becoming mainstream as music lovers use streaming services for convenience and purchase physical product for tangibility” said Fitzgerald, adding “Ownership is a growing trend and we intend to open more new stores to meet this demand.”
GoldenDiscs.ie is also proving a success for the retailer selling lesser known niche product and providing quick delivery through its pre-order services.
