• Proving it’s never too late to learn is Dr Derek Mulcahy Mungret, Co. Limerick, who was awarded a doctorate in history at the recent Mary Immaculate College conferring ceremonies. Dr Mulcahy returned to College as mature student in 2011 when he completed the Foundation Certificate for Mature Learners. Following this he completed a BA in History and English before undertaking a PhD in History. The title of his thesis was The Evolution of Limerick City's Fife and Drum Band Tradition, 1840 to 1935.
