TAKING place in Cecil Street, ‘Celebrating Limerick Playwrights’ this Saturday October 27 will see excerpts from the work of prominent theatre makers performed in The GAFF. Combine these playlets with a drinks party and song to realise this fundraiser for the resource centre promises lighthearted Hallowe’en mischief. ‘Celebrating’ will be a night to remember.
More than a platform for their works executed by (mostly) professional actors and director Joan Sheehy, this Saturday will be “a presentation of bite-sized pieces of dramatic writing from Limerick’s finest playwrights,” Monica Spencer of The GAFF’s board tells Limerick Post. “This event is a true celebration of the highlights of favourite plays written for, by and about Limerick people. A little soirée, with music and song from the very talented Jane Fraser, follows the drama in the venue.”
Mike Finn/ Pigtown/ Field of Dreams is on the programme; as are Mary Coll/ Excess Baggage (comedy); Kevin Barry/ Maybe the Night; Carrie Barrett/ The Underside; John Murphy/ Smallone.
The performers are Marie Boylan, Sheila Fitzpatrick-O’Donnell, Padraic Hastings, Michelle O’Flanagan, Rachel Griffin, Myles Breen, Gene Rooney, Monica Spencer, Majella Conway, Jason Ronan, Carrie Barrett and James Corr, all under the experienced hand of director Joan Sheehy.
