FOUR men who carried out two burglaries in County Limerick were later apprehended by Gardai after they crashed their getaway car on a country road as they fled the scene.
Three teens and a man aged in his 20s were arrested on Monday morning after Gardai received a report of an attempted burglary at a house in Patrickswell.
“A description of the suspects involved and the car they were seen driving off in was circulated to all members on duty in Limerick”, a garda spokesperson said adding that a short time later, “Gardaí were called to the scene of a road traffic collision in Ballingarry, where four men were seen running into nearby fields.
“Following a short foot chase, all four men were arrested and brought to Roxboro Road and Newcastle West Garda Stations where they were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
It later emerged that the men were suspected of being involved in another burglary that had occurred at a house in Banogue earlier that day.
All four men have since been charged in relation to these incidents and were brought before Limerick District Court.
